Development of a Restaurant Management Web App
For a restaurant management project, we developed an interactive web app prototype that brings the core processes of day-to-day restaurant operations into one digital workspace, from table management and reservations to orders and billing.
The goal was to create an application that works especially well on smartphones and tablets. In a busy restaurant environment, staff need to understand the situation at a glance: which tables are available, where guests are already seated, which reservation is coming up next, and which bills are still open. The prototype presents this information through a calm, clear, and touch-friendly interface.
The web app was built with React.js and runs entirely on local mock data. This allowed us to simulate the key workflows realistically, including seating guests, creating reservations, adding items to an order, sending orders to the kitchen, opening and splitting bills, and releasing tables once payment is complete.
Mobile usability was a central part of the project. The interface uses structured cards, clear status indicators, large controls, and simple navigation to help service staff move quickly through their tasks. The result feels like a practical operational tool that remains easy to understand during a busy shift.
The visual design follows the same restrained approach. Light surfaces, prominent black actions, subtle status colours, and carefully applied rounded elements create a modern, approachable, and professional interface. The full product experience was localised in German, allowing the prototype to be presented realistically to restaurants operating in German-speaking markets.
The result is a clickable web app prototype that makes the most important restaurant workflows tangible. It provides a strong foundation for discussions with restaurant operators, investors, and product teams, and can be expanded into a complete platform with a backend, user roles, point-of-sale integration, and real-time synchronisation.
